Welcome to our inaugural newsletter, launched in celebration of Economic Development Week! As we join communities nationwide in recognizing the importance of economic growth and development, we're excited to share insights, updates, and stories that highlight the vibrant opportunities within our community.

The Economic Development and Tourism department of the City of Clarence-Rockland is here to support the local business community by fostering collaboration, providing tailored resources, and promoting initiatives that drive growth, create opportunities, and build on the strong network of businesses in the city.  

We are eager to share details on the new projects the department is working on for 2025 to support local businesses and encourage growth.

                     New Economic Development and Tourism website

We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of the city’s Economic Development and Tourism website in July.  The site will offer the opportunity to explore everything from business resources to tourism highlights.  When you visit the website you will find valuable information, resources, and tools to better support businesses, investors, and developers.


                                 Community Improvement Plan (CIP)

The City of Clarence-Rockland is launching a brand-new Community Improvement Plan with the first intake period starting in September. The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) has been developed to help enhance our neighborhoods across the city by fostering growth, revitalizing public spaces, and supporting local businesses. Information on the new CIP program, funding streams along with application details will be available with the launch of the City’s new Economic Development and Tourism website.


                        Economic Development Advisory Committee

The City has approved the creation of an Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) to facilitate the exchange of ideas between Municipal Council and the public with respect to economic development and tourism initiatives.  

The Committee will encourage economic development that enhances the quality of life of the city’s current and future residents and businesses.

Following the April 9, 2025, council meeting we are pleased to officially announce the committee members who have been selected to sit on the City of Clarence-Rockland Economic Development Advisory Committee. 


                                  Funding and Support Resources

Discover a selection of organizations offering valuable funding options and resources to help your business thrive. Each edition, we will share new opportunities to support your growth and success.

  1. Canada Business App : provides access to thousands of government programs and services – federal, provincial and municipal on a mobile app. 
  2. FedDev – Small Business Services : a Federal Economic Development Agency that helps Ontario entrepreneurs find government business information and services. 
  3. Benefit Program – Ontario Federation of Agriculture : designed to provide OFA members with choices for preferred group pricing on farm inputs, and to provide members with pricing information that they can use in making purchase decisions.  
  4. Transition to Tourism Entrepreneurship Program for Canadian Tourism & Hospitality Entrepreneurs : fully funded and mentored business development program to truly ignite your tourism business
  5. Francophone Community Grants Program : supports the cultural and commercial vitality of the French-speaking population, with a focus on improving front-line services and promoting French language and francophone communities.
